Reece Drkula

Principal

Reece Drkula was born and raised in Idaho Falls, where he graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2010. The education road was not an easy one for him. Reading and writing have always been a bit of a struggle as he learned to overcome some of his learning disabilities. Mr. Drkula has learned that no matter how challenging the obstacle to overcome, with the right tools and support it can be done.

Teaching has always been an interest of Mr. Drkula’s, but the road to being an educator has been long. Mr. Drkula decided to also follow another dream, and previously obtained a degree in Aviation Mechanics before deciding to pursue teaching.

History has always been one of Mr. Drkula’s passions, from historical documents, to movies and films, to historical memorabilia. The Cold War Era has quickly become a topic of interest to him. He believes that during this time period the world experienced great highs and great lows through war, struggles, innovations, and compromises.

Besides history, Mr. Drkula also has many other interests, such as enjoying activities that the winters in Idaho provide, yes we know, crazy. Mr. Drkula loves to hit the slopes skiing, and with half of his family living in Minnesota, the love of hockey runs strong through his veins. Through all of his loves, nothing is stronger than his love of family, especially his wife, Tess, whom he has been married since 2014.

Mr. Drkula is excited to be a part of the Alturas staff and looks forward to learn and grow from the talented individuals that call Alturas their own.
