Jamie Blake

Spanish & Physical Education & Art

Jamie Blake was born and raised in Northern Utah. She is the youngest of three girls, and both of her parents were educators. It is fun now to see that she's following in her parent’s footsteps. She has a wonderful husband, Bryce. Together they have been married for over 16 years.

After graduating from college and moving from coast to coast, they settled in Bryce's hometown here in Idaho Falls and they love where they live. They have two beautiful children who they were blessed with by adoption- Veda and Marshall. Being a mom is Jamie's greatest joy. She also has a giant schnauzer named Hero, who thinks she's a lap dog even though she's 80 pounds. Jamie loves to be at home and enjoys cooking, reading, working in the yard, and tending to all her flowers during the summer. Her most favorite thing to do is paint with watercolors, and she also enjoys doing stained glass foil work-- a skill she learned from her high school job at a stained glass business.

Jamie attended Brigham Young University-Idaho and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor's in Integrated Studio Art with an emphasis in Illustration. One of her biggest accomplishments is publishing two children's books that she both wrote and illustrated. They are titled "The Adventures of Buffalo Joe and the Blackbird with the Broken Wing," and "A New Adventure of Buffalo Joe and the Moose in the Mire."  They can be found in National Park gift shops all around the country.

While Jamie is relatively new at teaching, she absolutely loves sharing with children her love of art. She loves finding engaging, fun projects for students to do and is so proud of her students when they create art. She enjoys wearing bright, fun, sometimes silly outfits for her students and will never be seen without wearing bright lipstick.
