Deana Peoples

Grades 1-3

Deana Peoples was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She moved to Idaho Falls in July 2020 after falling in love with the beauty of Idaho and the people who live here. She has been married for over 16 years and has two children: Tori (who completed nursing school) and Amberleigh (who will be attending Alturas). In her free time, she loves to hike, explore nature and read. Mrs. Peoples loves sushi and country cooking. Her favorite snack is a Payday candy bar and a Diet Mountain Dew. She loves to walk her Labrador Retriever named Luna.

She pursued higher education at Montevallo University. There she graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Peoples has taught for the last six years at Pleasant Grove Elementary School in Pleasant Grove, Alabama. She has taught fourth and fifth grade but did her internship in second grade at Trace Crossing Elementary. In 2019, Mrs. Peoples was named Teacher of the Year for Pleasant Grove Elementary. She was also the National Honor Society Sponsor and on the leadership team.

There is very little that makes Mrs. Peoples happier than teaching children. She loves to facilitate a life-long love of learning in her students. Her classroom culture reflects that of a family where they: support each other, cheer at accomplishments, help each other through difficulties, and show compassion towards one another. She is very excited to be with Alturas International Academy and is looking forward to a fabulous year of learning!
