Rachel Nielsen is from Shelley, Idaho. She is married to Linden Nielsen and together they are raising 6 children, Devin, Tyanna, Anton, Zackary, Isabel, and Amelia, ranging in ages from 14 to 4. Some of Señora Nielsen’s passions in life are teaching and Spanish.
Family is also very important to her. She and her husband both come from large families, because of this their children have 36 aunts and uncles and 45 first cousins and counting. Their get-togethers are always loud, busy, fun, and very entertaining with such a crowd!
Nearly 20 years ago Señora Nielsen learned Spanish while living in Ecuador for about 1 ½ years. Since then she has continuously used her Spanish abilities in various capacities, including teaching Spanish at the MTC for 2 ½ years.
Señora Nielsen graduated from BYU in 2002 with a BA in Humanities. After graduating she worked as the assistant director and Spanish services coordinator of Help, Inc., and as an editor for law practice guides before marrying and starting a family.
When Señora Nielsen was in junior high she realized how much her teachers influenced and helped her. It was then that she decided the best profession for her would be to teach. Señora Nielsen thrills in watching others learn. She loves figuring out new ways to explain concepts and ideas to reach students on their level and help them truly understand. She is truly excited to be on this adventure as the Spanish teacher for the PYP at Alturas International Academy.
