Kara Powers was born and raised in eastern Washington State and moved to Idaho
Falls with her husband and their two daughters, Kaitlyn and Hailey, in the spring of
2015. Following their move to Idaho, Mrs. Powers and her family have fallen in love with
all the great outdoor activities around Idaho Falls including camping, fishing, hiking, and
skiing. Mrs. Powers also enjoys traveling to new places, crafting, baking, and her
family's weekly game nights.
Mrs. Powers pursued her higher education at Washington State University in History,
with an emphasis in U.S. Military History. Following graduation, Mrs. Powers became a
Historian for an archeological consulting firm, working closely with Mid-Columbia Native
American tribes and the Fort Walla Walla Museum. After moving to Idaho Falls, Mrs.
Powers became a stay-at-home mom and volunteered weekly in her daughter's
kindergarten class at Alturas and since then has had the pleasure of being able to work
with students in various grades and in various positions. Teaching has become a great
passion of Mrs. Powers, with first through third grades being her favorite! She loves
being able to connect and help each of her students reach their highest potential and
continue to grow and learn inside and outside the classroom! This will be her sixth year
here at Alturas!
